Sales are a vital part of any business no matter how great your product or marketing is.

You may have the best product or service in the world but what matters is converting an enquiring prospect into a sale. If you truly believe in your product then you are doing your prospect a disservice by not selling to them.

Even if you think you are not the sales type or that it is unnecessary, I can assure you that everyone unknowingly makes effective sales all the time and that there are many reasons why it is a crucial element to business.

Sales Translates to Conversions

We are all in business to help people and make a profit while doing so. Without someone mastering your sales, no business can truly thrive. Many people believe that if you simply put your product out there, the money will start rolling in.

That however, is simply not true. For customers to go from admiring a product to purchasing it, they need to feel as though their best interests are being met.

Marketing and advertising can capture attention and interest, but a salesperson can make an individual feel like all their needs are being taken care of. Salespeople can also answer any concerns that the potential customer may have and assure them that the product will meet their needs.

Sales Creates the Need

Marketing and advertising may create a want for a product, however that may not always be enough to drive people to purchase. What really creates the drive and urgency for an individual to buy something is the fact that they need the product.

This is done through sales, as it is the salesperson who persuades someone in that last step of the process that they are making the right decision.

A skilled salesperson is the driver of the business as they can communicate with a potential customer that this product or service will have a positive impact on their life and that without it they will be unfulfilled.

Sales Leads to Customer Retention

In a world where technology has grown so fast in such a short amount of time, it is easy to believe that digital advertising can do as much as a personal sale.

This however, is simply not the case and a personal connection between people should never be underestimated. Sales people are the ones that not only make the sale but perform sales follow-ups and create a long-lasting impact on the customer.

The key to this is to create a great relationship with the customer and a positive link to the business, which cannot be done through simply advertising and marketing. It is extremely cost effective and time saving to retain customers rather than search for new ones so to save a lot of time and money, a salesperson is crucial to grow a business.

Marketing and advertising can simply spark an interest in a potential customer, yet in order to turn an interested individual into a buyer, they often must be convinced that the product/service is a necessity and not an option.

If you are not good at sales, you need to learn and practice until you become great at it! or you need to hire someone who is!
