Social media has been on the rise for numerous years now on a personal aspect. In the last few years, businesses, particularly small businesses have stood to gain the most from posting online to their customers.
It may seem simple at first, throw a few posts up here and there, like a couple comments and you’re all set right? Wrong, you could potentially be killing prospects of future customers and turning current customers away by a lack of a social media strategy.
A lack of strategy can negatively affect your business page on social media. Make sure to stay clear of these mistakes:
Poor Graphics
Almost everyone in our society have the latest version of whatever smartphone brand they are loyal to and this means we all have the latest specs available to us to look at nice photos and graphics online. Pictures grab your customers attention first, they may not even read the content that comes along with the picture and just look at the pictures.
So if your business posts low spec visuals, ugly graphics or grainy images, you could be losing a lot of potential sales. Make sure to create images that are easy on the eye, have colours that work together and are uploaded at a high resolution to get the best results on social media.
Zero Consistency
Just like with other aspects of your business such as packaging, websites, products etc. you will need to show design consistency. This not only looks good on the eye, it makes your customers remember your brand and builds trust.
If someone is on your social media and they see three to four different designs in your posts they won’t be intrigued enough to want more information, click your links, watch your videos or purchase your products. Choose a design feel like traditional, modern, contemporary etc. and make sure that all of your posts are aligned with your brands design.
Ignoring your fan base
On social media, if your business ignores comments etc. from customers you are setting yourself up for failure. If you post content and you receive feedback and interaction from your audience, then you have potential leads sitting there waiting to give more information to and connect with.
Customers won’t tell you that they feel a lack of connection, they just won’t come back or purchase your products. Try to make sure that every comment or message is responded to in a timely manner. Even if you are solopreneur, you should still dedicate some time and resources to follow up interactions on your social media.
Social media doesn’t have to be a scary monster in the room, if you think of it as though you would any physical social interaction you will be on the right path.
You don’t need to spend hours and hours agonizing over why you haven’t reached your target amount of followers yet. Maintaining consistency and etiquette can and will take your business pages to new levels and will result in reaching new audiences and keeping your current audience happy.
